HAPPY THANKSGIVING DAY!

Today is Thanksgiving’s Day! A national holiday in Canada.

We had our family dinner yesterday and we ate tons of food. This year’s dinner was prepared completely by my mother alone! Also ONLY our immediate family were in attendance, we have not had a ALL family dinner since Christmas Day. It was quiet, fun and “da boyz” my nephews provided the entertainment. DA BOYZ ARE VERY FUNNY!!
My family have much to give thanks for, as my mom is as strong as ever. Don’t get me wrong she does have her dizzy spells, sleepless nights etc BUT she is with us and nothing could make us more thankful and grateful.
When my mother had her brain aneurysm April 19th, 2009 it was very stressing on EVERYBODY involved. My father was at my mother’s bed side EVERY SINGLE DAY. So this THANKSGIVING DAY clearly places everything in the correct pecking order.

Last year a dear family friend of my mother (Homer) held a very special Thanksgiving dinner in his home just for our family (he didn’t want my mom to have to do anything at all).
Now my mom can play with the “da boyz” including Baby Barack who is now 22mths (before we had to watch them both–safety concerns). My mom can pick him up and have fun with him like all of us do BTW this kid now weighs 30 lbs and has a whole lotta energy:-)

Folks don’t always get a 2nd chance at life, my mom (and my family) have all received this special blessing a 2nd chance.

Last year’s Thanksgiving we were fortunate indeed (as my mom had survived the aneurysm), however this year’s Thanksgiving we are truly blessed! My mother prepared her usual AMAZING feast ALL BY HERSELF–making this year’s meal extra special, bringing up special memories of how my sister and I grew up.

I have a whole new appreciation for THANKSGIVING DAY. I am thankful for God constantly taking care of my mother and father. For the blessings and miracles that I have witnessed. I am thankful for my family and friends and for all the opportunities (good and bad)that have passed my way.

As this day closes let us all be grateful for all the things great and small that have touched our lives.

Stay blessed always!
Goodnight.

You call this a calling card!

I was given a new ($2.50) calling card to use recently, “Minute Pass” which I had never used before. It stated “no connection fee” — “ultra low fees” — “super fast”. I was under the impression that this card would take over my two usual ($5.00) calling cards. I didn’t see an expiration date on the back so I thought that I would investigate this calling card over the internet. This is where this story gets interesting!

I called the customer service number and spoke to a lady who confirmed the “no expiration date” HOWEVER, this card has sooo many hidden fees!  I had advised the CSR that over the internet the information was very negative from consumers because the info given out seemed like “double talk”.   She tried to educate me on the calling card but every time I asked another question she had to double back!!

This representative advised me that there would be funds deducted off the calling card each day after the first usage, but she could not be specific on the exact amount (this does not happen with my other calling cards!)   When asked about when the automated service advises (after entering the pin#) the length of  the call, why is it during the conversation the customer gets cut off — she could not answer!  She could not specify anything what-so-ever!

She just stated that it depends on where you are calling.

Eventually I became frustrated as she kept changing her story/mind with every inquiry I made!   I was unable to be transferred to a supervisor or manager so I hung up the phone!

Thinking that I would be able to get another customer service representative I waited a few minutes then called back, when THE SAME REPRESENTATIVE answered the phone and said her name I hung up!  I called several times and EVERY SINGLE TIME the same CSR, the same name and voice…what the hell!  When asked is she the only person who works for this company she said no. However, I have called many times since and the same individual answered the phone, you figure it out!

FOLKS DO YOUR HOMEWORK IN ADVANCE!

BTW–I made one call to the States and another within Ontario both times I only left msges on the machine. I was never able to use the card again!

can’t believe she said that!

We were casually talking, then out of nowhere she turned to him and said:
I bet you must have done something reeeally bad one time, a long time ago and that’s the reason you are sooo nice now!
How rude! I just about fell off over, she saw the shock on my face and looked surprised. I mentioned how rude I thought she was, although I must admit it was funny, caz she does this type of thing all the time.

She is an individual who DOES NOT THINK, before she speaks and while she may be serious, others NEVER take her seriously, they just think she is ridiculous! HE (such a gentleman) appeared un-phased by her words, after all we knew how she is!

Jake & Vienna’s interview

Oh my goodness, this evening I was doing things around the house while the TV was on (I was not watching anything specific, it was just on!) In passing I heard the host (Chris Harrison) of The Bachelor mention the controversy surrounding Jake proposing to Vienna, and how the controversy continues to escalate as they split!

I noticed that from the time that Jake sat on that couch he looked different, I could not really tell why he looked different but he did! Jake started to talk and it was immediate, he was not the same “Jake” that I had liked on The Bachelor his smile was different, and his body language was screaming “I am uncomfortable”  THEN Vienna came out and the fireworks started! I WAS TOTALLY ENGAGED! (pun very much intended hahahaha!).

I will say that I had never ever liked Vienna when she was on The Bachelor, I thought she was a schemer, and basically a biatch! I found her to be someone who thought her “sh*t didn’t stink” and thought that “she was above every body else”. I had been following the finale (proposal episode) with my laptop and berry in hand and was chatting with my Twitter buddies. I had been routing for Tenley and really thought Jake was going to choose her!

http://www.thehollywoodgossip.com

I was stumped and shocked when he proposed to Vienna instead of Tenley (and actually a little disgusted). I think I wrote something like Jake you picked the wrong girl, you should have chosen Tenley not Vienna and I think after I wrote that I thought he was in idiot, I also wrote this WILL come back around and bite you in the ass Jake!

http://www.thehollywoodgossip.com

Fast forward to today and that same Jake no longer exists–the fool that graced us with his presence this evening seemed like he was trying too hard (just to keep his calm demeanour and definitely not smiling the way were use to seeing)

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/showtracker/2010/07/the-bachelorette-vienna-interrupts-jake-and-some-stuff-happens-to-ali-too.html

I found Jake to be very rude and degrading towards Vienna, he was trying so hard to make himself look good and make her out to be the bad guy. He talked down to her, if she interrupted, like she a child and while that upset her, it infuriated me! Then it was obvious that she wanted to say much more, as her eyes swelled up with tears, I think that she was being quite sincere. He tried to make it appear that she was talking extremely loud but she was angry–Jake really, why would you ask her why her voice was raised–where you not in the room?  you fool!

This was the VERY FIRST TIME that I have ever had compassion for Vienna, I feel like she was too upset not to be telling the truth (unless I am the fool then she should be in the movies)

On other hand, I do believe that Jake was lying through his teeth and should be hired to play the bad guy that gets “done away with” within the first 5 mins!

Either way, that saying WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND has already happened to Jake and I believe it will happen again to him. I believed Vienna when she said that Jake is a “fame seeker” and has not flown a plane since they got together, I also believed that she was upset when Jake was on Dancing with the Stars! She seemed to be complaining about small things (that are very important to most of the female gender).  Why would Vienna be complaining that her man is not being romantic towards her, and that she has to ask for a kiss or a hug, she complained about very emotional things and became very emotional herself.  I thought it was to Vienna’s benefit when she mentioned that she needed a job and money of her own. If this is a fact and she did get a legitimate job then congrats to her, as this will only make her a stronger individual.

Jake on the other had was blaming everything on Vienna, including infidelity! Well tonight he kept telling Vienna to stop interrupting and to be quiet and to stop telling lies! I would love to hear what a body language experts thinks about what they saw in this interview. Would they be on team Jake or team Vienna?

Either way, I am sure that the “powers that be” were very happy with the ratings of this nasty vs nasty interview. If a soap opera or film maker were trying to write the script I don’t think it would have been this dramatic, mean or interesting! What do you think?

We know because both Jake Pavelka and Vienna Girardi are reality stars that there is more to come, lets see how long their 15 minutes of fame is drawn out!!!!!!

Happy Fourth of July (Independence Day)

In the United States, Independence Day, commonly known as the Fourth of July, is a federal holiday commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, declaring independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain. Independence Day is commonly associated with fireworks, parades, barbecues, carnivals, fairs, picnics, concerts, baseball games, family reunions, political speeches and ceremonies, and various other public and private events celebrating the history, government, and traditions of the United States. Independence Day is the national day of the United States.

During the American Revolution, the legal separation of the American colonies from Great Britain occurred on July 2, 1776, when the Second Continental Congress voted to approve a resolution of independence that had been proposed in June by Richard Henry Lee of Virginia. After voting for independence, Congress turned its attention to the Declaration of Independence, a statement explaining this decision, which had been prepared by a Committee of Five, with Thomas Jefferson as its principal author. Congress debated and revised the Declaration, finally approving it on July 4. A day earlier, John Adams had written to his wife Abigail:

The second day of July, 1776, will be the most memorable epoch in the history of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival. It ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forever more.

Adams’s prediction was off by two days. From the outset, Americans celebrated independence on July 4, the date shown on the much-publicized Declaration of Independence, rather than on July 2, the date the resolution of independence was approved in a closed session of Congress.

Historians have long disputed whether Congress actually signed the Declaration of Independence on July 4, even though Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, and Benjamin Franklin all later wrote that they had signed it on that day. Most historians have concluded that the Declaration was signed nearly a month after its adoption, on August 2, 1776, and not on July 4 as is commonly believed.

In a remarkable coincidence, both John Adams and Thomas Jefferson, the only signers of the Declaration of Independence to later serve as President of the United States, died on the same day: July 4, 1826, which was the 50th anniversary of the Declaration.

HAPPY CANADA DAY!

Today is Canada Day and the weather is supposed to be amazing. Family BBQ planned and I can’t wait to hang with my nephews “da boyzz”.

Canada Day (French: Fête du Canada), formerly Dominion Day (French: Le Jour de la Confédération), is Canada’s national day, a federal statutory holiday celebrating the anniversary of the July 1, 1867, enactment of the British North America Act (today called the Constitution Act, 1867), which united two British colonies and a province of the British Empire into a single country called Canada. Canada Day observances take place throughout Canada as well as internationally. Commemoration Frequently referred to as “Canada’s birthday”, particularly in the popular press, the occasion marks the joining of the British North American colonies of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and the Province of Canada into a federation of four provinces (the Province of Canada being divided, in the process, into Ontario and Quebec) on July 1, 1867. Canada became a kingdom in its own right on that date, but the British Parliament kept limited rights of political control over the new country that were shed by stages over the years until the last vestiges were surrendered in 1982 when the Constitution Act patriated the Canadian constitution.

As this is a national holiday there will be lots of BBQ’s, concerts and of course fireworks!
The Canadian flag is flying high in offices, stores etc. so the popular colour of the moment is red & white.

Happy Canada Day eh!

Today’s Poem

The week was long and sad and the aura was blue.
Not much done, not even sleep!
As the world bustled outside, EVERYTHING just seemed to have stopped inside!
No one will or can understand.
Happiness is there for the taking, so why is this going on again.
Sick and tired of being sick and tired!
Things need to be done.
True love surrounds everybody.
The rain the sun, the rain the sun…
Very confusing 😦
The world is changing all the time.
Why don’t we appreciate our gifts?
The news is always sad, we never get to celebrate like we used to.
When will all of this change?

People need to get up and go.
We all need to JUST DO IT!
We need to relax and just BE.
Everybody needs to stop and “smell the roses” so to speak.
We need to take time to be happy within ourselves, so that we can radiate to others.
Don’t waste energy on silliness!
Live life moment to moment.
Try to remember how you feel in each moment (happy or sad)
Be kind to others.
BE KIND TO YOURSELF FIRST!

What do you think?

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!

I want to say THANK YOU for all of you who contacted me when my mother had a serious brain aneurysm. April 19th was 1 full year and she is doing GREAT! (driving and even golfing again) She inspires me EVERY SINGLE DAY. She lives every second of her life to the fullest!

From the 2nd day she was in the hospital ALL OF YOU (including people that I have never even met) showed me so much love. I was receiving prayers and all kinds of positive/spiritual sayings etc. You all made me feel loved.

THANK ALL OF YOU for just being there for me and making me stronger to sit by my mother’s bed all of those months last year. May all of your dreams become reality, may pure peace & joy just shower you and your loved ones.

I pray that God’s love will keep all of you happy & healthy. MAY GOD BLESS & WATCH OVER ALL OR YOUR OWN MOTHER’S LIKE HE DID WITH MINE.
